Another walk in the park?

Today I paid a $500 deposit to secure a berth on the 'Challenge for Change' Kokoda Trek, a fundraising challenge for the International Women's Development Agency (IWDA).

In May 2009, I will head off to Papua New Guinea with my trekking buddy Roshni for a ten day adventure, trekking the 96km Kokoka Track. Hot and humid weather, steep terrain and tough descents, river crossings, camping. It will be tough, but brilliant. I'm so glad I'm over my fear of leeches.

I am paying for the flight and cost of the trek myself but have committed to fundraising an additional $2600 for IWDA. There will be recipe book sales and chocolate drives, and a lot of asking everyone I know to chip in for a great cause.

This blog will chart my training and preparation for the Trek and my fundraising efforts.

Training starts now, one K at a time.
